Sometimes in the dark I can see it real clear when there's noting to look at, and nothing to hear and I think about Jesus and the things that he said and they say he was a good man, but he ended up dead and then the light comes shining through and makes it hard to keep my eyes on you but sometimes in the dark sometimes in the dark sometimes in the dark I can see it real clear And I want you to know me, and i want to know you but the way things are falling, there aint much we can do and i thought that i saw you, but i could be wrong it felt like forever in the dark before the dawn and then the light comes shining through and makes it hard to keep my eyes on you but sometimes in the dark sometimes in the dark sometimes in the dark I can see it real clear

I don't need nobody to tell me I'm lonely I can see there's no one here at all and i don't need to know this room is empty to read the writing on the wall and i don't need you to tell me that I'm crying cause i know I'm crying all the time and i dont need you to count my blessings and tell me everything is fine I just want somebody who can see me the times that i can't see mycelf and i want some body to hold me and make me feel like someone else

Angelina 03:06
Angelina Broken Claw, tell me what your Brother saw Were you with him? did you see it too? Did you hear the shooting guns? Were you scared, did you run? Can you tell me, Where's your Brother now? 1000 ponies in the grass, shining gold and running fast Came and carried him away Now he rides the trail of sorrow, in a land with no tomorrow In a camp on the other side of the sun Angelina Broken Claw, Tell me 'bout your Ma and Pa Did you see them Standing in the fire? Did anybody say a prayer? Does anybody even care? Does anybody wonder where you are? 1000 ponies in the grass, shining gold and running fast Came and carried them away Now they ride the trail of sorrow, in a land with no tomorrow in the camp beyond the sun 1000 ponies in the grass, shining gold and running fast They're here to carry you away Angelina Broken Dream, rides beside the silver stream And follows the setting sun

Addiction 03:40
When the Winter comes and the Sun goes down And my old friends come back around We got this shotgun shack feeling like a Tomb With 40 watt bulbs and empty rooms Late at night when I'm all alone Staring out into the Twilight Zone I can see you cryin' in your wedding dress Your hair like fire and your face a mess And what goes around Comes Around...and goes around again And I turn around and follow you down…Hangin’ around ...again There's a paradox in every paradigm I thought I needed more money but I needed less time I was a spaceship looking for a place to land Like a drop of dew on the desert sand And what goes around Comes Around...and goes around again And I turn around and follow you down…..Hangin’ around ...again With Battle cries and Lullabies On these broken wings I can barely fly I tried to circle my wagon like I've done before But I would up knocking on your back door And what goes around Comes Around...and goes around again And I turn around and follow you down…I’m just hangin’ around ...again

I thought I heard you cryin’, I thought I heard you say An echo in the distance not so far away I still don’t understand, it’s not what we had planned at all I used to think I had a reason but now I don’t recall You was bankin’ on it, accounts were overdrawn You heard someone singing and it was not your song There’s a grave beside the cradle, the wound of life is fatal. Just when I understood your pain it started to rain loneliness is scary and I’m so ordinary I need someone to help me through I’ve been counting years and I’ve been counting minutes And Now I am counting on you But when the truth appears it’s never really clear We’re just searching thru the ashes and the dust For someone to trust There aint no point in running There ain’t no place to go There ain’t no ancient secrets there’s nothing left to know Love was so ironic and you bet your life upon it You’re just a product of the things I have to loose every time I’d choose You can scream and moan Everything you own will fade And every enterprise and all those hollow eyes will say … goodbye I don’t understand it but I don’t care no more I only know I need it don’t even know what for I had a will of iron but lately its begun to rust And I’ve never needed anything as much as someone to trust

Magnolia 03:15
Magnolia wind is dancin' in the Pines again tonight Savannah moon is kissin' on a Star behind a Cloud Do I see your face, In the sky to night, and hear your voice in the wind And do the things that we said that we didn't mean Hang like ghosts in a movie scene Sunrise and coffee and your empty chair Roosters still crowing for the day The neighbors cat comes round and checks on me agan There just ain't much to see Will I see your face in the clouds tonight, and feel your touch in the wind? Will the shadows dance that lonely waltz And the raindrops fall like tears again But I can't dance, and its too wet to plow I don't like dancing alone anyhow Its been raining here for a week or two It rains every time I think of you Can I see your face in the clouds tonight, and hear your voice in the wind? Will the shadows dance that lonely waltze And the raindrops fall just like tears again

Death came by to see me yesterday we had a talk, She said she couldn't stay She had a heavy date, she didn't want to be late Death came by to see me Yesterday I was a little sad as I watched her ride away but she smiled on me and said she'd be back someday I heard her mention your name to her we're all the same Death came by to see me Yesterday There's a chilly wind that's blowing down the avenue tonight you can light a fire, but you still won't see the light Death came by to see me Yesterday She looked a little pale but she said that she felt OK She didn't stay too long, but she helped me write this song Death came by to see me yesterday

Here I am awake again before the light Feeling very different but nothing has changed The silence of a sleeping world pours over me As I listen to the sound of a bird that doen't sing For 20 nights a whippoorwill has sung for me Calling to the echoes in my heart Stopped my sleep from stealing all my precious time Tonight the air is full of the song she doesn’t sing I hope that she has found what she was looking for I know her dreams were wrapped up in her song I wish that she could sing me of her happiness Tonight my mind is full of the song she doesn’t sing for me

Palaver 03:14
Old man Pitcher lost the farm and they chopped down all the trees Building house in a row just as pretty as you please I hear they built a slaughter house Where the church house used to be It won't too awful long ago the nations lived out here My people fenced the land and they all disappeared Now they're exiles in the promised land Outlaws on a trail of tears Last night the Coyotes came and sang my goodbye song I got out in the moonlight and tried to sing along We left our marks on the mayors car In the morning we were gone The politicians and the bankers are calling all the shots With greedy eyes and twisted minds they want what they ain't got They come 'round here with papers Tryin' to steal the things that can't be bought The mornin' sun on the mountain snow Can make you lose your eyes The glitter of a rich man's gold can make you lose your mind All the things I thought I'd have forever, I have to leave behind

It ain;t no secret, and it ain't no thing if you want the girl, you best be buying a ring 'cause she wants a rock, and you want a roll but if you wanna groove, you gonna need some soul It ain't no secret, its easy if you know how My momma told me , that when things go wrong it ain't no use, standing round cryin', you got to be strong and sometimes you give, sometimes you take sometimes you bend, just try not to break It ain't no secret, its easy if you know how now you can stay, or you can go try to make up your mind, and let me now and tell me the truth, and don't ya say no lie 'cause we ain't got time for now long goodbyes It ain't no secret, its easy if you know how

RING of FIRE 04:17

about

This is a very special album!! It is as live, raw, and beautiful as it gets. Recorded live in a HUGE concrete stairwell that sounds incredible (like the inside of a Pyramid) using only an i-Phone to record the audio and video. There will be videos released soon on the RoundUp Promotions YouTube channel.
I had previously done a music video for Carey’s “Stairwell Sessions” featured on YouTube. I found the sound and the vibe inside the stairwell so incredible that I asked if she would consider recording a full album there and her answer was an enthusiastic “Yes” and here is the result. Thank you Carey and RoundUp Promotions for making (letting) this happen. You are the best!!

Carey Hood of RoundeUp Promotions:
What started out as an experiment has led me down a path of new discoveries. I never thought I would be able to say in my lifetime that I helped produce an album. But, here we are.
Using my i-Phone, Roger and I met at the stairwell to record as many songs as we could. Two and a half hours later, we had 10 songs that are incredibly haunting and beautiful. It captures everything I love about Roger’s songs….they are painfully full of emotions with lyrics that make you think and reflect on your own life. This album is as stripped down as one can be…only Roger’s voice and his guitar, but I believe it proves that you can create something incredible with just the phone in your pocket.
Special love and thanks to Roger for allowing me to be a part of this project. Everyone needs a friend like Roger that says “Oh, you have a crazy idea….let’s go try it and see what happens!” And if there is any lesson in this project, my hope is that others will be inspired to take chances, try new things, and just go for it! I can’t wait for the students at school to ask me “What did you do this summer?”

Soooooo– put in your earbuds, headphones, or lay back between the speakers, close your eyes and blast this.. you will be glad you did.
